Whether it’s establishing groundbreaking landmarks such as The Social or breaking new ground in Parkdale with Parts & Labour, Girard and Lambert are pioneers of Toronto’s retail, music and hospitality scenes. Drawing on their earlier successes, The Hoxton is the city’s next entertainment frontier.
The pair have once again turned to multidisciplinary design studio Castor to bring a venue to life. A thousand-foot electroluminescent wire chandelier (first seen at Powerball in Toronto) greets guests at the main entrance. Rectilinear carvings adorn the edges of a 48-foot long cinderbloc bar (topped with polished limestone), above which hovers 48 feet of LED panel lighting. The bottle service area is accented with turolights and three-foot Basalt stone buckets and stools, while a functional orange scissor lift serves as the DJ booth. Brian Richer of Castor cites influences from Josef Alber’s Bauhaus, to Donald Judd, and Anish Kapoor.
